News Release -- Operation Ignite eBay Giving Works

One of the primary philosophies of Operation Ignite is to minimize operation costs in order to maximize the assistance provided to our projects. One exciting new opportunity is the launch of quarterly virtual auction conducted through eBay Giving Works. Due to the non-profit status, much of the typical eBay transaction fees for the seller are waived, so it syncs well with our stewardship model.

Leigh Storz will be managing these efforts and will provide more info in the upcoming weeks on the initial Auction planned for Sept 1-10, 2009. This will:
  • Allow Operation Ignite to physically receive "certain" donated items prior to the auction and then make them available.
  • Allows existing eBay sellers to donate a portion (10 to 100%) of their proceeds to Operation Ignite.
  • Allows people to participate in a virtual silent auction over the 10 day window.

We will need some assistance in running these auctions, including solicitating donated items, and also packaging items following the event. If you want to be a part of these efforts on the Operation Ignite eBay team, contact leigh.storz@operationignite.org
